Working with Patients Under Managed Care Plans

What is Managed Care

At Phoenix Mental Health, we believe access to quality psychiatric care should be as seamless as possible. If you are using insurance to help cover the cost of care, there’s a good chance your plan is part of a managed care system. We’re here to help you understand how it works and what you can expect.

Managed care is a type of health insurance plan that contracts with medical providers and facilities to provide care at reduced costs. It is designed to control health care costs while ensuring appropriate care. Common features of managed care plans include:

  • Provider Networks: Patients must use health care providers and services approved by the insurance network.
  • Pre-authorization Requirements: Some services may require approval from the insurance company before they can be provided.
  • Visit Limits: Certain services may have a cap on the number of visits or require periodic review to continue.
  • Care Coordination: Managed care plans often involve communication between multiple providers to ensure consistent and efficient treatment.

Understanding these features can help you get the most out of your coverage and avoid unexpected costs.

How We Work With Managed Care

Phoenix Mental Health works with various managed care plans to ensure patients can access needed services with minimal disruption. Our administrative team provides support throughout the process:

  • Insurance Verification: Before your first appointment, we confirm your benefits and eligibility to ensure your plan is accepted.
  • Authorization Management: If your plan requires pre-approval for services, we assist with submitting documentation and obtaining authorization.
  • Cost Transparency: We explain your financial responsibility up front, including co-pays, deductibles, and any out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Ongoing Assistance: Our staff is available to help with any billing or insurance questions throughout your care.

What You Should Know

When seeking care through a managed care plan, keep the following in mind:

Phoenix Mental Health - Concierge

Phoenix MH Concierge is the private pay portion of our clinic. Releasing our providers from the restraints of insurance, we can spend more time with you, respond to your needs more quickly, and see you sooner and more often if necessary. Concierge medicine is becoming increasingly more popular because of the increased interaction and time spent between providers and their patients. Please let us know if you are interested in this treatment system and we’ll be happy to discuss our pricing with you.

Phoenix Mental Health - insured care

As shared above, Phoenix Mental Health is now in network with all major insurance carriers, and Medicare, for medication management services! We understand that not everyone has the capability of privately paying for their mental health treatments, however, that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t receive excellent care. However, because of restraints and difficulties with the insurance networks in mental health, this system does operate with slightly shorter patient visits and potentially longer wait times.

Regardless of how you choose to move forward, Phoenix Mental Health is committed to taking the absolute best care of you and/or your loved ones. We stand strongly by our promises and values in the care we provide to our patients. With us, you will be heard. You will be treated with dignity and respect. You will be cared for. You will have our support in your battle against mental illness. And you will never have to do it alone. Call us today for more information.
