About Dr. Almaguer-Botero
Dr. Almaguer-Botero has worked as a professional mental health counselor for 9 years. She has clinical and research experience in the areas of mindfulness, wellbeing, spirituality, maternal mental health, parenting issues, and rehabilitation from substance use and physical health disabilities. She is trained in EMDR and has specialty clinical experience in the treatment of trauma, anxiety and depression, cultural issues, and women’s wellness (peri and postpartum). She has provided trauma and crisis counseling services to teens, children, families and adults in different types of settings, such as immigration and refugee centers, substance abuse treatment clinics, schools, private practice clinics, hospitals, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. Almaguer-Botero has served as a content expert in a campaign for the American Academy of Pediatric to help NICU’s implement mental health services. Dr. Almaguer-Botero is also an adjunct graduate school professor for the UTSA Department of Counseling and Human Development. She has been teaching graduate students in counseling for the last 5 years. She is passionate about teaching and working with students.
Dr. Almaguer-Botero is equipped to meet the needs of a diverse population and a wide array of presenting concerns across the spectrum of wellness. She works with teens and adults of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
